That’s the opinion of NFL expert Nick Wright.

The Panthers visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night and Newton will be desperate to continue his sides’s winning streak.

A mixed 3-2 start for the Panthers has been followed by a three-game winning run in which they defeated Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and divisional rivals Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And ahead of the clash, expert Wright has been discussing Newton’s performances on field and believes statistics don’t always show what the 29-year-old adds to the Panthers.

“The reason I think that Cam doesn’t get enough credit is because quarterbacks get evaluated by the same scale – touchdown to interception ratio, passer rating, passing yards,” Wright said on First Things First.

“Cam adds something to his team that none of those other guys do at this level and nobody else has done in NFL history at this level which is the consistent every single game you know you’re gonna have to deal with six to twelve carries from the quarterback, at least four to eight designed runs by the quarterback and they’re punishing runs their runs that actually can wait wear down the defense.

“I don’t think there are five quarter-backs in football that could be doing what cams doing for this Panthers team and I don’t think he gets credit on that scale well.”

Newton has been limited in practice this week because of a right shoulder problem however it’s considered to be precautionary and he is expected to be ready to go against the Steelers.

Meanwhile, Newton hailed the Panther’s chemistry but sparked debate when he admitted it’s not the most talented team he’s been apart of.

“Harmony is everything. Chemistry is everything,” he said. “This may not be the best or most talented team that I’ve probably ever been on, but it’s getting up there with guys that are really meshing and linking up perfectly.

“We may not necessarily be the best team in the league, but we damn sure are going to be the best team when we play. And that’s all that matters.”
