The local Barking and Dagenham police also released a statement via Twitter.
They said: “Police are on scene in Hunters Square, Dagenham following a serious assault where a male has been stabbed.
“A suspect has been arrested at the scene and taken to a east London police station.
“A crime scene is in place.”
London has seen a dramatic increase in violent crime over the past year.
In the year to June over 21,000 knife related offences were dealt with by the criminal justice system.
Two thirds of these were for possession of a blade.
Speaking falling the release of the figures, Justice Secretary Rory Stewart said: “We need sentences that punish anyone who commits knife crime and deters anyone from doing it in the future.”
The number of London murder victims hit 100 in August.
This is the earliest in the year this grim milestone has been reached since 2008.
Police are urging anyone with information to call police on 101 quoting crime reference CAD 6721/18.
